About Banora Point

The town is 11km from the Gold Coast airport and just 2.5km from major shopping centre Tweed City. Banora Point is mostly suburban and a popular spot for retirees and young families.

There’s a golf course, shopping precincts, cafes, playgrounds, a newly-built off-leash dog park and Twin Towns Club Banora – a perfect destination for families to enjoy lunch or dinner.  Banora Point is just 6km from one of the Tweed’s most pristine beaches – Dreamtime Beach at Fingal Head. The headland is a basalt rock formation that was created 23 million years ago by ancient lava flows from the nearby extinct volcano, Wollumbin.  The town is also less than 10km to the seaside village of Kingscliff which is a magnet for surfers and swimmers. Kingscliff’s Cudgen Creek is a prime spot for young children, kayakers and paddleboarders.  Most houses at Banora Point enjoy views of the South Pacific Ocean as far south as Kingscliff, to Coolangatta and Burleigh Headland in the north. Others have breathtaking views of the hinterland, the Tweed River and Chinderah Bay.

There are both public and private schools at Banora Point and at least six childcare centres.  The population of Banora Point was 16,167, with a median age of 50, according to the 2016 Census. The median price for a four-bedroom house at Banora Point is $970,000 and about $800,000 for a three-bedroom house. Units over the past year were selling for a median price of $669,500 for a three-bedroom and $540,000 for a two-bedroom unit.  The average cost to rent a four-bedroom house at Banora Point is $795 per week and $650 per week for a three-bedroom house.

Banora Point has had a compound growth rate of 10.5 per cent for houses and 11.9 per cent for units, based on the past five years of sales.

Things to explore at Banora Point

1. Off-leash dog park

Tweed Shire Council’s newly built off-leash dog park features two, fully fenced areas over 7600m2. There’s a play area for small and large dogs.  In each of the off-leash areas there’s dog agility equipment, drinking fountains with dog bowls, waste bags and bins, picnic tables, shelter and bench seats. 2. Lake Kimberley

Take a stroll around Lake Kimberley at Banora Point. It’s a flat path about 1.3km round, making it suitable for any fitness level. Lake Kimberley is also a haven for swans and other bird species. Access Lake Kimberley off Darlington Drive.

3. Wilson Park
